
Science Fairs As Part of Science Curriculum
Science fairs can be used to meet many of the learning objectives of the Manitoba science curriculum. Senior One to Senior Four students may also get up to three credits using science fair projects as student initiated projects. Pan Canadian Science Framework
The Council of Ministers of Education, Canada met to develop common student learning outcomes for Early, Middle and Senior Years science. The resulting publication, The common Framework of Science Learning Outcomes, Kindergarten to Grade 12, was completed in November 1997. Since then provinces have been developing curricula in accordance with these learning outcomes. Check out the complete Pan-Canadian Science Framework document.

The foundation statements emphasize four main areas: STSE (Science, Technology, Society and Environment), Skills, Knowledge and Attitudes. An excellent outline of these Foundation Statements is available by clicking on the title.
Manitoba senior years students can get either full or half credits using the student initiated project (SIP). Schools may also develop a school initiated course (SIC). The regulations and procedures are available from the government document. Click on the title.
