Use of Animals in Research and STEM Projects

It sounds like your project involves working with or observing animals, or animal parts or tissues. It is very important that STEM projects involving animals are ethical. No animals may be harmed during the conducting of your STEM project. All projects involving animals must:

  • Submit a Research Plan to WMSF for approval, before you begin working on your project

  • Have a Scientific Supervisor that has read the applicable Policies and will ensure they are followed

  • Comply with provincial and federal legislation regarding health of animals and cruelty to animals

WMSF follows Youth Science Canada's policies and requirements for Use of Animals in Research.
