What's the scoop?
The top grades 7-12 projects from the Western Manitoba Science Fair have moved on to represent Western Manitoba at the Canada Wide Science Fair in Edmonton, AB from May 14 - 19, 2023 at the Edmonton Convention Centre. The Canada Wide Science Fair is the largest youth oriented science event in Canada, and Edmonton welcomed 400 brilliant young minds this week from across the country for this national week long event, giving finalists an opportunity to compete for cash prizes, scholarships, and special awards that may very well shape their futures. In addition, they have participated in a variety of science based activities/workshops, as well as had the opportunity to explore the area and get up close and personal with the many cultural, social, scientific, and other activities that the Edmonton area has to offer.

Fun times at CWSF!
Here are some of the activities for participants at the 2023 Canada Wide Science Fair. Early in the week, the focus for the finalists is on scientific, social and cultural program activities, including judging for the competition. During the last three days of the Fair, finalists will not only share their projects with thousands of visiting students, teachers and the public, but they will also have an opportunity to explore the STEM Expo.
University of Alberta Experience
Spend the day at the University of Alberta! Participate in lab experiences, take a campus tour, and eat in dining hall.
Talent Show
Cheer on your fellow finalists as they share their many talents at 'CWSF has Talent', hosted at the University of Alberta!
Telus World of Science Edmonton
Spend the night at the Telus World of Science. Dinner will be served on-site!
West Edmonton Mall
Explore the many things that the West Edmonton Mall has to offer. Participants will be bussed to the Mall and provided money for dinner.
STEM Expo
The STEM Expo will be Canada's largest youth science, technology, engineering and mathematics outreach and promotion event and will run concurrently with the CWSF Wednesday to Friday. Exhibitors will include government agencies, universities and colleges, private companies from various industries, outreach and education programs, museums and youth groups. The Expo is focused on offering engaging, hands-on activities, inspiring presentations and exciting demonstrations to all our visitors to showcase the opportunities that exist in STEM.
