DAY 1

Saturday, May 11, 2014 - Saturday started early for Westman; we met at the airport at 7:45, got our awesome team jackets and then were off on our flight to London, ON. We were greeted by CWSF volunteers when we landed and then we were bussed to the University of Windsor! Once we got our keys & registration packages we went and got settled into our rooms. Supper on Saturday was excellent and when we were done we headed straight for the exhibit hall to start setting up projects. The boys got a good start on set up before we had to head to our orientation. After orientation we got the full MB group together to meet and then we were off to the Meet and Greet activities. The boys traded pins, signed t-shirts, watched the Ambassador Air Dance Band, and got to meet lots of people from all over the country! It was a fantastic first day of this science fair adventure!!

DAY 2

Sunday May 11, 2014 - After breakfast we headed out on our long walk to the exhibit hall to finish project set up. We got all of our set up and safety checks done in time to walk to the river before lunch. We got to see the Ambassador Bridge and we saw the city of Detroit across the river! After lunch the students had their first round of public viewing. They did a great job presenting their projects to the public & it was good practice for Tuesday! We had supper on campus and then went back to the exhibit hall for the Opening Ceremony. We got to hear a local A Capella group called the Paperbag Club at the ceremony, they were awesome! After the awards ceremony we went to the finalist lounges for a bit, and then back to the dorm for a snack before bed.

DAY 4

Tuesday May 13, 2014 - This morning was our earliest morning yet! We were all up and ready by 7am! We ate a quick breakfast and then walked over to the exhibit hall. We stopped for some group pictures along the way. When we got there the students went inside for judging and I headed to my meetings. We had a late lunch and then it was back to the exhibit hall for more judging in the afternoon! The students got some good feedback on their projects, had a fantastic time talking to experts in their fields and felt great after their very long day of judging! After supper we joined up with the St. James Assiniboia group for a great game of "Catch Phrase" in our dorm's lounge (the students were definitely better at it than the delegates!) It was a lot of fun and was the perfect way to relax after a day of judging! We finished the night be heading to the Finalist Lounge to listen to the last bit of Science Fair Karaoke which was entertaining! Then it was off to bed to get rested up for our tour day tomorrow!

DAY 5

Wednesday May 14, 2014 - We got to sleep in a bit this morning and then we were off four our tour day! Trevor drove us out to Point Pelee National Park where we did a lot of exploring. We enjoyed the shuttle ride & walk out to the tip of Point Pelee and all of the birds that we saw along the way! We were able to take in a presentation about the history of the national park and the efforts to restore it to a protected wilderness. It was enjoyable to travel along the shores of Lake Erie and we stopped for lots of picture opportunities! â€‹We finished the day off by having dinner with some other regions from Manitoba, it was great for the students to get a chance to visit!
